Boy, I need to get out of this State
I love living in Washington State with the beautiful mountains, thousands of acres of forests, close proximity of lakes and waterways, the mild climate, and so much more, but the politics here drive me absolutely crazy. I just read this article in the Seattle Times about how the liberal legislature is actually working on bills that promote tolls on roads as a way to reduce greenhouse gases. Yeah, go ahead and steal more of my hard earned money and throw it at something that may or may not work to reduce the number of people in cars. Actually, tolls on main roads may force more people to drive farther around the toll roads, increasing the amount of gas used in vehicles.
I am not sold on humans causing global warming at all and think it is a bit arrogant of us to think that we can have such a huge impact on this planet. I do think we may have a very minor impact on the climate, but there are not enough of us humans on this planet to impact nature to this extreme level. If you travel, you will see that the human population in miniscule in comparison to the vast expanse of this earth. I don’t think we should abuse this gift that God has given us, but I also think that the Earth goes through climate changes naturally (as science shows). The history of this planet seems to show we go through climate change cycles so why is this period any different than before? Wasn’t it just 30 years ago the liberals were trying to get us fired up about the next ice age? Wow, we have gone from an ice age to an ice meltdown in just 30 years? That is a microsecond in time for the Earth and I do not agree with the extreme environmentalists who are looking at a short period of time to push their agenda and steal our money. “Global warming” is big business and there are lots of people (like Al Gore) making a pretty penny off of the fear they can raise in the general public.
I encourage people to do some research and check out sites like JunkScience.com before jumping to irrational conclusions. I will never see Al Gore’s “Convenient Lies” movie because of the fear-mongering message is sends out that is not even based on science. It is also a bit strange to me how so many “experts” say that man caused global warming, but there is nothing we can really do to stop it.
Are you a Christian political junky like me?
My online buddy, Susan, sent me a link to an interesting site called GodTube.com that has a 2008 Election Center section. As readers of this blog may know I am a very conservative guy and when I lived in Washington D.C. my wife and I really dove into politics and became political junkies. My preferred candidate won’t be representing the Republican party this year, but we can’t win them all.
The GodTube election center site has links for each of the 4 remaining major candidates and when you click on their face you are taken to a site with a collection of videos to watch the candidates talking about the various issues. I think it is very important for those of us in America to be educated voters and recommend you check out this site.
Lousy weather and lousy elections
Boy, has the weather been depressing here in Washington with something like 7 inches of rain in 6 days. There is flooding all over the place and everything is pretty damp and dreary. My yard is still under major construction because we hired some clown trying to save a few bucks that can’t finish any project and did things backwards. This was my first major project as a homeowner and was a lesson learned. Today we had a real professional come out to give us a bid on doing things right so hopefully the major work (couple of walls, driveway, front porch) will be done by Christmas. I’ll then plant and landscape the yard in the Spring.
We also had some pretty lousy elections here in the U.S. and Washington State. I can’t say that I blame the uninformed public too much though as I haven’t been happy with the Republican leadership myself as many of them seem to have little backbone and don’t stand up for what is right. Even if you don’t like George Bush you have to admit he is a man who sticks to his beliefs and principles and doesn’t waver with the polls or public opinion. I expect the new Democratic majority will start spending even more of our hard earned money on their pet projects now that they are in control and our government will continue to tick me off. Let’s just hope they don’t get any of their far left radical liberal agenda passed. One aspect about the Dems taking control now is that if they don’t get some things done right they may hurt their chances of taking the Presidency in a couple years.
I would love to see things done right by both parties to help America, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in either party right now as too many politicians play games to see their personal agenda fulfilled without doing what is just right.
Reactions to Chinese president's visit are opposite of what you would think
I was really into politics when I lived back in Washington, D.C., and when I was in the US Coast Guard and talk radio is still one of the main stations I listen to in my truck. I don’t really get into politics on my blog, but sometimes the situation is so outlandish that I just can’t hold it in any longer. Plus, this is my blog where I like to post my own thoughts to act as a kind of journal that I can easily archive and remember in the future.
As the U.S. and probably most of the world knows, the Chinese president made a visit out to the United States this week. He started off with a visit here to Seattle and caused some nice problems for our daily commute. I was a bit amazed how so many people in Washington welcomed the Communist leader with open arms, toasts, and extravagant dinners. I understand Bill Gates probably profits quite well from Chinese developers and techies and most of the reason people here welcomed him was for the money. However, I found it sickening that these same liberals who spew on and on about human rights in America were OK with hobnobbing with the president of a country that stomps on human rights every single day with forced abortions, killing of Christians, imprisoning people for minor reasons, etc. The completely biased Seattle Times posted an article today. In regards to President Bush holding a lunch rather than a dinner they had the nerve to state:
“(The choice of the lower-level protocol presumably reflected the administration’s sensitivity to criticism from members of Congress and others over China’s perceived economic opportunism and suspect human-rights record.)”
WHAT?!!!! “Perceived” economic opportunism and “Suspect” human-right record. There is nothing perceived or suspect about their actions and the Seattle Times should be ashamed for even stating such lies. Wow, I knew the mainstream media was biased and stupid, but I can’t believe they would state it so obviously in the paper. So it seems in the case of China, the conservatives care more about human rights and less about financial things while the liberals care more about economics rather than human rights. What a twisted world we live in.
One thing that I don’t like about living/working here in the Puget Sound area is how liberal people are and how hypocritical and vocal they can be about political, social, and economic issues. At least I stick to a single track for my beliefs, morals, and ideals.
