Treo 650 arrived and now fully loaded

My Treo 650 arrived yesterday and I spent way too many hours last night completely loading it up with all the applications I wanted to use on it. I have read of many instability and reset issues and was a bit worried about what might happen, but I put 34 3rd party applications (including Chatter email, VeriChat, Docs to Go 7, Uninstall Manager, WordPop!, Farkle, Busker, Pocket Tunes, Blackjack, MyBible, Mobipocket, and more) and so far haven’t had one issue. I launched each application and put in my registration codes and played with them for a couple minutes and still never had an issue of resetting. I really think the devices that are sold by the carriers may have issues due to the things that they add onto the devices. I have read the GSM unlocked models seem to have less problems.

I’ll be eagerly awaiting further posts on your experiences. Are you using a case? I am a frustrated Palm 515 user in lust with the Treo since the 600 came out. I’m glad I waited for the 650, but have not plunged yet. I’ve been looking for the right case. I have a Vaja flip case now, and am looking for something easy but protective. Your thoughts?

I just saw a case that looks awesome at my dinner last Friday and asked Proporta to send me a sample to review for Geek.com. They have an Aluminum hard case with an open area around the display and the top 6 buttons and directional pad so you could pretty much operate your device with the case closed and well protected. You would only need to open it up to use the keyboard.

I am also getting sent a Piel Frama 650 case that looks like it offers good protection and usability as well. I’ll keep my blog updated with my thoughts when the cases arrive.
