No EDGE then no TORQ P100 for me

Now that it has been confirmed by users on Howard Forums and Engadget that T-Mobile will be getting EDGE in September my choice of a mobile phone just became a bit easier. The TORQ P100 that I reviewed (review should go live in a day or so) does not have EDGE support so I will be passing it up.

That leaves me with the HTC Wizard or Treo 650 for devices in the current generation. The rumored Windows Mobile Treo may or may not come to GSM carriers and I can’t rely on that right now. David, from Mad Monkey Boy’s Gadgets, should be sending me a HTC Wizard to review and if that device doesn’t pan out I may just go back and get myself a Treo 650. The Treo 650 had a wonderful form factor and the ability to use it one handed and I fear that Windows Mobile 5.0 devices just won’t be there yet with the keyboard integration.

I’m still loving my Treo 650. I thought of having a selling it on rumors of the next version, but I really can’t think of parting with it. Battery continues to rock.

Do you know if the unlocked gsm treo650 will support edge out of the block?

Yes, if you find an EDGE signal and I just read online (Mobileburn site) that 90% of the system is active. Unfortunately, I do have an EDGE enabled device at this time so I don’t know if I am in an EDGE zone or not. I am VERY tempted by getting another Treo 650 since I really loved that device.

The one major drawback is that I get lots of PDF files emailed to me and I can’t open them on Palm Powered devices. This is a MAJOR reason I go with Windows Mobile, I can view every attachment I get sent to me right now.

I guess I need the Wizard or Universal, but I am afraid Microsoft hasn’t implemented the keyboard as well as it is on the Treo 650. Someone please solve the native PDF issue!!!!!
