Cool things to do with the Wizard

I am sitting here making this entry while I listen to XM Satellite radio both on the QTEK 9100. The stereo speakers sound great! UPDATE: I am listening to XM Satellite Radio with my Bluetooth headset (Cardo Scala 500) right now at work. It is not in stereo, but I need a free ear for listening for the phone and other things anyway and just want sound out of one ear. This is so cool 🙂 Oh yeah, I am using the EDGE connection and know I could do the same thing via WiFi with the Axim, but not everywhere while I am out and about. I have not seen any buffering after the initial loading with the EDGE network so far.

I also like the ability to use the excellent Smartphone GPS applications on the device. There are a few annoyances (primarily with dialing in portrait mode), but I am confident that Xda Developers will figure out ways to customize the device.

So can you also listen to MP3s via Windows Media Player on the Wizard via your mono bluetooth headset (you use for the phone function)?

Great job on the review by the way.

Yes, you can. One tap on my Cardo headset button opens the audio gateway and then I start listening to tunes. A second tap will close the gateway. While not in stereo, it is a handy feature.

Thanks for the comment on the review, I appreciate it.

Found this blog and your review about the Wizard. Excellent review there! I particular like your opinion as you have a good knowledge on both the Treo and PPC.

I am considering wheather to get a Treo or a Wizard and your review really does has a major influence on my decision. What is the major drawback of using the Treo for web browsing, apart from the 2MB download limit?

My biggest beef with browsing on the Treo is that if I browse for a bit and get into a discussion forum and start entering a response if I then leave the browser and go get my email and then come back everything I just typed is gone and the browser starts back at a page I set up. This doesn’t happen in Windows Mobile and is actually a pain for the way I surf and use browsers.

The Treo also has a limited display size for web browsing and does not support viewing multiple pages at the same time. Granted the display is beautiful, but small. Windows Mobile doesn’t natively support multiple windows either, but I use Spb Pocket Plus to open multiple browser windows which is very handy for copying and pasting URLs and viewing multiple stories, etc. Setting up Bookmarks on the Treo is also a pain since there is no way to import your desktop Favorites except with a rather expensive 3rd party application. I like the easy way to import IE Favorites on the Windows Mobile devices.

I feel that I get a better browsing experience with PIE over the Blazer browser. Opera Mini works on both devices, but again you get more screen real estate on the Wizard.

I also like the fact that I can start downloading my email in Messaging (Pocket Inbox) and then go and surf the web or something else while email is being downloaded.

Some valid points you have there. I always take multi-tasking capability for granted and don’t realize how handy it is.

IMHO Treo has the best one-handed form factor. Too bad the Treo700 will has a 240 x 240 screen which really turn me off.

That’s my biggest problem (lack of multitasking)and why I decided to keep my Axim to supplement my Treo. I used to strictly use Palm devices before the Axim and thought Palm devices were great….until I used Windows Mobile.
