I think it is funny to see Hollywood fawn all over itself during this time of year with all the silly award shows. It is incredible how much Americans pay for entertainment with actors, athletes, and others who were blessed making millions of dollars while incredibly hard working people who actually make people’s lives better and work to help our country function get paid dirt in comparison. I think teachers should get paid the big bucks and athletes something like $100,000 a year.
Anyway, I was pretty surprised to see the very low attended gay cowboy movie, Brokeback Mountain, win 4 Golden Globes. I mean, I knew Hollywood would probably give them something because the storyline featured homosexuals, but 4 is a bit out of touch. The movie has only grossed something like $32 million in 6 weeks and shouldn’t even have been considered. I never watch these silly award shows because most of the time they give awards to movies that attempt to have some kind of real meaning and aren’t even that enjoyable. I personally go to movies to be entertained and enjoy hits like Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc.
Stacy Harp posted a blog entry showing clips of Janet Parshall on Larry King Live talking about the movie and I thought Janet did a great job with a difficult interviewer.
